The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Your Second Season Bingo Cards β With Some Good News
The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions β but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. [β¦] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 β particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
