Vinted Users Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
